Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility depends on the applicant’s field:
Humanities and Social Sciences
Applicants must:
- Hold a doctorate (PhD, MD, JD, DPhil, EdD or equivalent)
- Have received their degree at least four years before the fellowship start date
- Have published a monograph or at least two refereed journal articles
Science, Engineering and Mathematics
Applicants must:
- Hold a doctorate in a relevant field
- Have at least four years of postdoctoral experience
- Have published at least five peer-reviewed journal articles
Nonfiction and Journalism
Applicants must:
- Be professional journalists with at least five years of experience, OR
- Have published books or major nonfiction works
Creative Arts
Applicants must demonstrate strong professional achievement in their field:
- Film and Video: exhibition or festival-level recognition
- Visual Arts: at least five years of professional practice with exhibitions
- Fiction: published books or equivalent works
- Poetry: published poetry collections or major works
- Playwriting: produced or professionally developed plays
- Music Composition: strong professional performance record
