Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship 2027 in Australia

The Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship provides outstanding international students with the opportunity to study an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney with full tuition support. Established to attract exceptional students from diverse priority markets, the scholarship recognises academic excellence while helping recipients pursue their educational goals at one of Australia’s leading universities.

Awarded on a competitive basis, the scholarship supports students enrolling in eligible single undergraduate coursework programmes across a wide range of disciplines. In addition to covering tuition fees, it also pays the Student Services Amenities Fee, allowing recipients to concentrate on their studies without the burden of major educational costs.

Approximately 20 scholarships are awarded globally each year across the University’s two major intakes. Selection focuses not only on academic achievement but also on maintaining diversity in nationality and chosen fields of study.

About the Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

The scholarship was established by the University of Sydney to encourage academically outstanding international students to undertake undergraduate studies in Australia.

It is available to students applying for an eligible single undergraduate coursework degree, including programmes with embedded honours, with a maximum duration of four years of full-time study.

The scholarship does not apply to combined degrees with a postgraduate component, selected dual degree programmes or degrees that include the Bachelor of Advanced Studies.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants will receive the following benefits throughout the published duration of their eligible undergraduate degree:

  • Full tuition fee coverage.
  • Student Services Amenities Fee (SSAF).

Recipients will, however, be responsible for other study-related expenses, including accommodation, living costs, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), textbooks, flights and other personal expenses.

  • Intend to enrol full-time.
  • Be an international student.
  • Have completed secondary school or an approved foundation programme recognised by the University of Sydney.
  • Be applying for their first tertiary qualification and must not have previously undertaken university studies, except approved extension studies completed during secondary education.

Only applicants applying for eligible undergraduate programmes will be considered for the award.

Selection Criteria

The scholarship is awarded through a competitive selection process based on:

  • Outstanding academic merit demonstrated through the admission application.
  • Successful completion of the online scholarship application.
  • Diversity of nationality.
  • Diversity of the intended undergraduate degree programme.

Applications are assessed by a University selection committee, and all decisions made by the committee are final.

How to Apply

Interested applicants must first apply for admission to an eligible undergraduate coursework programme at the University of Sydney.

Eligible applicants will then receive an invitation through the University’s eVision portal to submit a scholarship application.

For students commencing a thesis-only degree or beginning the thesis component immediately, the scholarship application alert will appear after submitting the admission application. For other eligible programmes, the invitation will appear before the relevant study component begins.

Only successful applicants will be contacted by the University. The indicative turnaround time for scholarship offers is approximately five weeks after submitting a completed scholarship application.

Recipients must accept both their unconditional admission offer and scholarship offer by the required deadline. Failure to do so may result in the scholarship offer being withdrawn.

Ongoing Requirements

To continue receiving the scholarship, recipients must:

  • Maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester.
  • Have no outstanding university fees.
  • Complete their degree within the published full-time duration.

The scholarship cannot be transferred to another degree, faculty or programme.
