Position Overview

The role of a Class 1 Relief Driver at ARR Craib Careers is a permanent full-time position. This role is designed to cover holiday and sickness absences, ensuring the smooth operation of our transport services. The job involves multi-drop trunking from the Inverness depot to the Queenslie depot and back to Inverness as needed. You’ll be using a handheld PDA for completing paperwork, planning daily routes, and maintaining regular communication with the transport team to update on progress and manage customer expectations. Additionally, you will attend regular training sessions to stay updated with the latest industry practices.

Key Responsibilities

Multi-Drop Trunking:

  • Transport goods between the Inverness depot and the Queenslie depot.
  • Ensure timely delivery and pick-up as required.

Paperwork:

  • Use a handheld PDA to accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Ensure that all documentation is properly filled out and submitted.

Route Planning:

  • Plan your route on a day-to-day basis to optimize efficiency.
  • Adjust routes as needed based on traffic, weather, and other factors.

Communication:

  • Maintain regular contact with the transport team for updates on progress.
  • Manage customers’ expectations and provide timely updates as needed.

Training:

  • Attend regular training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Stay updated with industry standards and best practices.

Flexibility:

  • Cover both day and night shifts as required.
  • Be adaptable to changing schedules and requirements.

Essential Skills

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:

UK Class 1 CE Licence:

  • A valid UK Class 1 CE Licence is mandatory.

DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card:

  • Must hold a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.

Customer Service:

  • Be passionate about providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensure a positive experience for all customers.

Working to Deadlines:

  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
